Our weekend in Connecticut!

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

We had the pleasure of spending the weekend in Connecticut. We went with our friends to Alex's parents house, it was such a nice getaway from the city. We spent the weekend relaxing and just enjoying the quiet. We made some really great food, had a nice soak in the hot tub, and the last day was really nice so we went on a little nature hike, it was beautiful. Thank you to Alex & Alanna for hosting this weekend and Alex's family for opening their doors for us, we had a really great time!

This was our first adventure of the weekend, we went to the local apple orchard, it was so cute and fun!

Which apples to buy....

Jared in his element, he was so excited he found a fishing pole!

We walked over to a large pond, of course Jared threw a few casts.

Oh look!! he caught one on his second cast!!

I got eaten by a picker bush, it grabbed my pants and my scarf.

Me, Jared, Jon and Katie in the middle of these very tall trees.

I am very intensely looking for pretty leaves to craft with.

We are all trekking our way back to the house, what a fun little walk we had out in the woods!

Election night Party!!

Thursday, November 6, 2008

Jared and I thought it would be fun to host election night at our apartment, and so we did!! We spent Sunday and Monday making decorations and starting the food. I think everything really turned out great, not to mention ending the night in victory :-) I wanted to post some pictures of our first party, at one point our living room was at max capacity, you literally could not walk, every inch was covered. I hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as we did, we had a great time and appreciate all the help and food and drink that was brought. We will definitely have to do this again :-)

This was an Obama/Biden wreath I made for the front door, in case you didn't know which door was ours :-)

These are Obama water bottles I made :-), I thought they were fun!

Jared, Jon and Katie in the Kitchen, last minute food prep

Lots and lots of people from school came, great turnout!

Halloween!!

So Halloween in New York is something else, like nothing I have seen before, everywhere you go, no matter who you see, everyone is in costume, we took a cab downtown to a party that one of Jareds friends was having and there were just tons of people walking the streets in costume, it was really cool to see. I only got a few pictures from Halloween because my camera died on me :-( There is one of Jareds friends Alex and Danny, they went as a condom and a condiment, and then Jared and I, Jared went as the last standing Michigan fan and I went as a Soho celebrity (note: Jared told me I was dressing up to go to a party 20 mins before we left :-) We had a really good time though, Jared has met some really nice people through school.

A late post of me and Alanna, she went as a run on sentence

A Black Tie Affair

This was a black tie event that Jared and I attended on October 25th. It was put on by the Alumni association of Mt. Sinai Medical School, there were many prestigious Doctors from around the city and elsewhere in attendance, as well as the Surgeon General, who is a Mt. Sinai Graduate! Jared was the only first year student there because he is on student council and is the alumni representative for his class. We did not really know anyone, but we still had a lot of fun, just to be out on the town in a new city was so exciting. It was held at the Pierre Hotel on 5th Ave. and 61st street, it was really a beautiful place. During the cocktail hour they had lots of passed hor'derves and wine, as well as a a buffet table set up with little things to nibble on, (of course I had to have at least one of everything :-) Then we heading into the ballroom for dinner, I took a picture of the first course because it looked so pretty. Dinner was great, and the dessert was wonderful, they served two different desserts as well as a 3-tier of petite fours per table :-) They also had dancing with a live band in between each course. We had a really nice time.

This is us with the other people at our table, they were other students 2nd, 3rd and 4th year with their dates, ( not sure who the man in the middle is).

Tabletop Market in NY

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

This was my first trip to the tabletop market, it was very exciting to see all of the new products and beautiful showrooms of so many different vendors. I had a lot of fun, we also got a few gifts as well which I took a few pictures of.

This was the Waterford/Wedgewood Showroom, so so pretty, they had a station where they had ballerinas in tutus handing out cupcakes to everyone, it was so fun, also they had trays of mimosas in crystal champagne flutes around the showroom for all in attendence to sip on :-)

This was the cupcake station, the ballerinas were behind it, and then this is a picture of the cupcake and the little box they served them in, how cute.

This was the Rosenthal showroom, one of the last we looked at before heading home. The last picture is a gift we all got from one of the showrooms, a little 3 piece china set.
